Spring into Movement in April
As the days grow longer, embrace a movement practice that feels nourishing.
🌸 Spring Into Movement
Can you feel it? The days are growing longer, and the air feels lighter? It’s like spring is inviting us to shake off the heaviness of winter and move with renewed energy. After months of hibernation mode—cozy sweaters, early nights, and maybe a little more stillness than we intended—our bodies crave movement that feels fresh, invigorating, and joyful. Just like the trees budding and flowers blooming, we, too, can use this season to reawaken our energy and step onto our mats with a sense of renewal.
Spring is the perfect time to refresh your wellness habits, whether that means recommitting to your yoga practice, trying a new healthy recipe, or simply adding more mindful movement to your daily routine. If winter had you feeling sluggish, start small—gentle stretches in the morning, a few sun salutations to welcome the day, or a brisk walk paired with deep, intentional breathing. The key is to embrace movement that feels nourishing rather than overwhelming.
As nature bursts into bloom, let this season be a reminder that movement is a gift, not a chore. Instead of focusing on "getting back on track" or forcing a rigid routine, think of spring as an opportunity to move in ways that bring you joy. Whether it's registering for a yoga class, stretching in the sunshine, or simply dancing around your kitchen, embrace movement as a celebration of your body waking up to the season.
A few of my favorite things:
Life Almost Sorted
I started a weekly newsletter called Life Almost Sorted. It’s meant to feel like you’re sitting at my kitchen island while I make you breakfast and we talk about all the things we would talk about - which would probably be ideas and issues around how to show up better for ourselves, our people and our planet. You can check it out here:
I’m in full homesteading mode at Rancho Mateja. We have a new flock of baby chicks, I’ve started cold-sowing some of the bajillion packets of seeds I picked up from Hudson Valley Seeds, and I’ve managed to keep Krusten Smith, our sourdough starter named for a family friend, alive long enough to make copious batches of bagels. And shockingly - bagels are SUPER easy to make. Here’s the recipe we’ve been making weekly.
On Mondays & Tuesdays, 6:30 pm, we’re practicing at the Cliff Top Studio - building balance, strength, and flexibility - physically and mentally. Sign up today!
Wednesdays at 6:30 a.m., come see for yourself why a dose of Kelly Brown Mateja energy is exactly what your midweek morning routine needs! Join us at the Maitri Studio in Troy (parking is a snap at that time of day!). Register for a class or join my Weekly Class Club for a discount!
